I'm using paris 3.0 logic 6.4 bias peak 2.6 on os 9.22
It works with great.Plugs are uad 3.8 and waves gold 3.2
I haven't used osx 10.0 on the second partition but it
was suggested i update osx and install logic, peak and utilise
it in osx.Logic and peak are interfaced with a Motu 2408 mk3
424 pci card.
Will this update work without adverse effects on my paris/os9
which i will mostly use on an upcoming project?

I would not do the partition thing. If your OS 9 drive is working fine I
wouldn't mess with it. I would get a second drive drop it in and load OSX,
Logic, Peak etc. It will work better and give everything room to breathe.

I've been told that OS 9 and OS 10 don't play well together on the same drive.
Install OS 10 on another drive and you should be fine.

I agree with this. I configured a G4 for a friend who needed OS9 for
an older recording app, but wanted OSX for other stuff. Two boot
drives, no waiting. I believe you hold down "option" on boot and it
gives you the choice.

No. I believe the drive with OSX needs to be on the internal buss. You should
have extra room in the G4. I believe they will take 2 or 4 hard drives.

You can put 2 drives on the first ide buss easily by stacking them.
You'll probably need to add a second ide controller for the other
stack.

My g4 has two internal ata 100 with os 9.22 and osx 10.0 (which
i haven't used) on the master drive.So if i installed a current
version of osx on the second ata100 drive that would be the
best scenario?I then would record to an external firewire 400
drive(ata100 8mb buffer)
Thanks, Eugene

And another drive w/ no OS installed? If so, I'd copy your OS 9 system folder
to the second drive. You now have another OS 9 bootable drive. Install
Paris on that drive and whatever other programs you use for recording/editing
audio. The only downside is that your old drive will be the one w/ the Paris
authorization. If anything ever happens to it you'll have to get a new authorization
for the new OS 9 drive.

Yes os9.22 and the 1st version of osx on the master drive
I was told that the computer wouldn't work unless osx
was on there.I would like to continue to use paris
on the main drive and install a CURRENT version of osx on the second drive
while updating peak and using logic uad melodyne
etc there. Iwould then record to an external firewire.
Would this work

Yes, I believe it would. I would try to update OSX to the latest version.
The first version of OSX is about six years old, and might be a bit buggy.

I'll update to the latest version of osx on the second drive
and leave paris and the other programs as is on the ist drive.
Will recording to an external firewire 400 (7200 rpm 8mb buffer,
ata100)drive cause a performance reduction as compared to an internal ata100
drive?
Thanks Eugene.
