both my eds cards will boot individually but not connected siting that no interface is connected. it's been so long since i've run the stuff but one mec can run 2 cards right? the only known problem with the second card is the cat5 connection. the c-16 will only control some of the functions.

thanks

Yes both will work off one MEC.

The C16 will control both cards

Yep, no problem.

Hmmm... that sounds like a mechanical issue.

She's an old girl, she might just need cleaning up. In order from the C16 inwards - buttons on the C16 actually functioning? AA wrote a great tutorial on fieldstripping and cleaning C16s - all C16s are now "of a certain age" and if it hasn't ever been done, it likely needs it.

Contacts in the Cat5 connectors OK? Zap 'em with contact cleaner on both ends, then do a visual inspection on both 16 and card end for bent/loose pins. Swap out the cable for a fresh one while you're at it.

Card interconnections OK? Pull'em, zap 'em with contact cleaner, put them back checking the connections carefully so as not to displace them by one pin(not hard to do). Zap the edge connectors with contact cleaner at the same time.

that's what i thought. now all i have to do is figure out why it won't see both cards together. it did when i reinstalled paris (a long time ago) and just sat there for a few...years. now, nada. tried different slots, making each the master card...nada. cleaned the slots, cards and my car...nada.

thoughts.

Bad ribbon connector between the cards? Check it for kinks or nicks - I once ran into a Cursed Mac suffering from that (of course after the owner had sent it back to Apple twice - once for CPU replacement and then again for full mobo replacement). If it's got a hard bend in it anywhere it might be damaged.

I suppose you've already tried plugging the MEC and/or C16 into the other card? Swapping the card positions?

yup, individually they work fine except for the c-16 due to the damaged cat5 input on the second card. one of the wire connections is bent up though i would think that when the connection is plugged in it flattens out. even so the c-16 control os sporadic at best. i'd really like to suss it out as i'm wanting to get back to paris for tracking...just like the old mojo i guess. kinda wish i hadn't sold off all the other stuff a couple of years back.

thanks

Hey Rick, did you get this fixed? Let us know if there's anything we can do.
