OK, my turn to weigh in on all this suicide stuff:
***The ex-wife of late Boston singer Brad Delp blames long-
standing issues within the band for Delp's suicide.***
As opposed to blaming long-standing issues within the
individual himself? Nice.
***Brad has always been stuck in the middle of fights between
bandleader Tom Scholz and former members of the group, and that
the past 30 years' worth of tensions finally got the better of
him.***
And I say: If you're doing something that sucks so much it
makes you want to kill yourself, then stop doing it.
***Brad lived his life to please everyone else. He would go out
of his way and hurt himself before he would hurt somebody else,
and he was in such a predicament professionally that no matter
what he did, a friend of his would be hurt.***
So he decided to hurt all of them at once, plus his family, too?
***Rather than hurt anyone else, he would hurt himself.***
Apart from the fact that suicide hurts more people than just
oneself, see previous comment.
***Micki said the last straw was the recent firing of fellow
Boston singer Fran Cosmo and his son, guitarist Anthony
Cosmo.***
OK, so following this logic, if you worked at a place with a
whole bunch of friends & acquantances, and two friends of yours
got fired, you would kill yourself?
***Scholz also said that while Anthony Cosmo was out of the
band, no final decision had been made about Fran Cosmo.***
Especially now that they're short one vocalist.
***Another source revealed that Scholz wasn't invited to Delp's
funeral last week and added, "What does that tell you? Brad and
Tom were 'the best of friends,' and he's been told nothing
about anything."***
Tells me that the family might be acting like dickheads?
Anyway, I'm not judging the guy - I can see how someone might
fall to such levels of despair that they see no way out & feel
that they have nothing to look ahead to, but to just place
blame on external pressures or people is pretty lame... lots of
people have dealt with a whole lot worse circumstances than
whatever he was facing & they didn't off themselves. POW's,
homeless people, Katrina or Tsunami victims who lost
everything they owned while watching a family member or two
drown in the process, the list goes on & fucking on.
Again, not saying it's as simple as: "suck it up, man!", but
certainly external pressures are only a small portion of the
equation when something like this occurs.

I'm with you, Neil. We can't know what this man was experiencing, but he
obviously found it intolerable, and we have no place to judge.
Everybody dies . . . some people decide not to wait for their own special
life sentence and take matters into their own hands in order to end their
suffering. Yes, it's sad that no one could relieve his pain before he took
this irreversible step, and it's very sad for loved ones, but blame is
pointless and serves only to add misery to a miserable situation.
He's not coming back, let's just cherish what he left us.
