HI James,
Nice Apple got a gift from Intel in being able to get the new Xeon Chip
set out to market before the PC side. Guess they felt bad for killing
fire wire 400 on the MAC market.
Fire wire 800 is next. Don't forget one of the main developers for USB3
is Intel. :)

The i7 chipset being used on the current PC single socket motherboards
and the one used on this new MAc is super fast. The increased memory
spped seems to be making huge difference in low latency and sampler VSTi
stuff.
I'm assuming the same will hold true on this new MAC.

Don't forget, you can use an adapter to get from firewire 400 to
firewire 800. So 400 isn't really gone.

The 8 core is making my G5 nervous again...
