I never thought I would say something like this, but the TC Powercore is 'only'
about $1200 and it's firewire. I'm out of PCI slots with a Creamware card
and a UAD card. Are the bundled f/x that come with Powercore really all that
good? There would be some obvious redundancy, it would be my third modeled
LA-2A after all, but I'm finding that mixing the rock'n'roll band is a much
more DSP intensive process than the electronic stuff that I do for me own
self. I can freeze tracks and render things and so on with my tunes but with
the rock band I'm always 'tweaking all across the mixer' and wouldn't mind
even a little more DSP.

Opinions on the Powercore?

Classic reverb is the only effect that comes with Powercore that I ever use.
The real value of a Powercore card is when you add the high-end TC reverbs
from the 5000 and 6000 or run Sony Oxfords. VSS3 is a world- class reverb.

Now that the Oxford bundles are available native (on Mac), my Powercore is
used less and less. On my Powercore(PCI) I could get about 4 full instances
of the exceptionally nice Oxford compressor. On my Quad Intel Mac, I can
get 200!

200 Oxford compressors? Gene, just stop! Your going to get DJ thinking
about Macs again. He knows either way he will die!
