Sorry. I was making a bad joke.

you said:

gimmie ron paul dammit

instead of

gimmie ron paul, dammit

so I was wondering if "ron paul dammit" was anything like

"Hillary Clinton oh-sh*t"

snork...

of course they are not the same. on a serious note, I hope we finally
see the end of both the Clinton and Bush dynasties this year...

No more Clintons, no more Bushes.

Thank You

DC

The nihilist in me eagerly awaits a Huckabee v. Obama campaign. The man who
stands for absolutely nothing but a vague self interest in his own advancement
vs. the man who concretely and desperately believes in nearly everything
I despise.

So which is which?

It's funny that we are on the opposite sides of the political spectrum, and
at the same time we all know we should be voting for Ron Paul

I wouldn't be especially terrified of a Guliani administration, though I've
always wondered if anyone dirty enough to become (and stay) mayor of NYC
could be clean enough to win a presidential campaign. I'd certainly prefer
it to any of the Dems or Reps.

I agree with this. There is a breathtaking level of casual corruption
in NYC (my hometown) but Rudi seems like he wants the job, not
to be a rock star or to fulfill some fantasy, but because there is
something he wants to accomplish. I also like Thompson because he
says what he really thinks, and seems like he cannot be bought.

I think he meant we all do less than honorable things now and then.

It's a good point that someone who has seen corruption, the systemic kind,
not the human-weakness kind, is better equipped to deal with it.

I think that politics is organized corruption, that's what it is. They take
money from us that they haven't earned and spend it on whoever elected them.
The upside of this is the interstate system, the downside is bags of money
changing hands for construction contracts and no show municipal jobs.

I also think that it's hard for anyone who hasn't lived on the urban east
coast, say between DC and Boston, to understand how much local politicians
have to sell out to get elected and re-elected. There's all kinds of greaseball,
19th century, Boss Tweed, Tammany Hall bullshit that goes on out here that
I just don't think happens in the rest of the US.

Personally I think that might make Guliani a more effective president, he
knows how to manage corruption, which is politics, pretty well. But our national
elections are about theater, smug displays of vague featly to the flag and
bible, they have nothing to do with actual politics.
