Remember I said I'd post some short mic test clips if I was
able to get permission from the singer - she said it was cool,
so thanks to Heidi Hayes for letting me post these for you guys
to hear. No purpose to these other than to let you hear certain
mics if you haven't had a chance to do so. Each clip contains
the first couple of lines from the old standby "Amazing Grace";
Mic & pre are in the filename. Hi-Rez mp3's.

Alex, that's exactly what we're going with... the 251C through
the 428. We had done a whole take out at the studio using the
Stephen Paul-modded -67 (this is one of the ones with the sub-
micron diaphragm) thru the Portico (the Portico ended up being
smoother on the loud parts than was the 1073), and she nailed
it with like one punch needed, but I wanted her to try the 251C
with a different preamp - the 1073 made her sound a bit too
midrangey through that mic - so we tried a couple of different
pre's here and the 428 was the ticket. The important part of
going to the other studio was to get the piano down, since I
don't have an acoustic piano. I'll post a clip of the final
version once I get a couple of vocal edits done.

Now wait 'til I have permission to post a clip from another
singer usng the E251C through the Chandler TG2... that
combination is PERFECT for this other girls' voice... OMIGOD,
talk about just the right degree of warmth along with some
killer air up top! I may have to post that one in .wav so you
get the full resolution (and also so John won't bitch & whine
lol).

:D

What model is the Neve Portico?
What do they cost?
I really like what I heard.
