Turnabout is fair play. I think you should teach them a lesson by finishing
off the Alpo.

Hi DJ,
I had a German Shepherd, similar story -
9 really nice big 3 inch Tall Juicy Pork Filets
marinating on the counter . Went out for
5 minutes to get Propane for the Grill.

Came back and asked my wife where she put the Filets -
Well , you know the rest of the story.
I looked at my Dog - when she ran and attempted to
hide under the bed - Hmmmmm :)

Having suffered a similar fate years ago, I now defrost in the
microwave... even if I don't turn it on! :-) Still do it even though
I don't have pets anymore.

I think our female, Juliet, got the most of it. She is waddling around here
looking like she's pregnant. Since she and Crash have both been fixed,
there's got to be another explanation.

Deej, I was kidding. If your cat can eat or even carry off and hide a four
pound roast it needs to be taken back to the zoo! ;>)

btw... wanna fix that? Buy another one and split it in half, then lace 'er
up with some cayene pepper inside. I had a trash hound in the house for a
while until I pepper the trash with cayene. He hasn't touched it since. As
you said....
I wonder what happened?

Years ago we had just gotten a new puppy. The lady that sold him to us told
us he had only been fed dog food, and to never feed him people food. Well
one day my dad came home with a bucket of KFC, and set it on the kitchen
table. My dad proceeded to the bathroom to wash his hands, of corse my dad
got in to the chicken on the way home from KFC. Anyways, the puppy had jumped
up on the chair, then up on the table. He had the bucket turned over on
it's side, he was half inside the bucket with his tail wagging. About the
same time my dad and I walked in to the kitchen from opposite sides. I'll
never forget the look on my dad's face, when he pointed at the puppy and
said, Dog food my ass! He knew exactly what that was!

I'll tell you what WOULD happen at my house. There'd be two very badly

Never kill a good dog. And I know Great Danes are merely the world's biggest
lap dogs. I woul hesitate to strike them even once, as they'd probably have
hives.

But there are many dog breeds who need the occasional slap on the butt or
nose in order to remain alive, as opposed to being put down for dangerous
behavior. My friend's pit/retriever mix: so sweet, but so damn stubborn
sometimes...almost killed a friend's cat recently, just having a good time,
you know....

Great Danes are just big kitty cats, or so I hear. Big, smelly, lap-sitting,
dog-like kitty cats.

And I'm a good man, gentle and domesticated. But if a dog ate my roast I'd
have to put it's face in the wrapper and spank it on the hiney several
times, real hard and smart-like. Make it feel chagrined for a few moments.
Roast beef ain't cheap.

Jimmy

Cayene is much better because you didn't even have to be around for the dog
to learn something about taking food off the counter. That lesson will
generally stick and you ain't the bad guy in said pooch's mind.

If I had caught them with the goods, I would have proceeded to make a point,
but they're sneaky. We didn't even notice what had happened until a couple
of hours after the roast was left out. the only evidence of the theft was
the *beached whale syndrome*

Koreans think dog tastes real good.

That's the ultimate lesson: you eat my food, I eat you.
