Hi all,

Want to load new skins for my paris 1.80. Tried using the instructions, but
the explorer app has been renamed editor. Names have changed. DO have the
wrong version to work with these bitmaps.

If this is the problem is it worth moving to 2.0 or 3.0 using win98

Hi Ron,

I've never messed with the skins although the greenish one
Gene had going looked really nice to me. I like Paris' original too.

3.0 is awesome. Avoid Pace if you can. If you can find it, it's worth it.
XP also brings alot of newer plugins to the Paris table too with FxPansion
3.3.
XP eliminates ADAT sync for most but some have it working here
oddly enough. Grouping is a huge benefit, four plugins on each aux bus
and the list goes on. Vertex Faderworks is a must have in my opinion too.
It allows latency compensation with a single key stroke. Macro
Express is another must have for handling screens quickly. Mike Audet
has ported some absolutely incredible reverbs over to Paris too from the
DP4 and DP Pro.

There's my positive synopsis of the last five years of paris' demise.

Tom

Hey Tom,

If I go to 3.0 will I be able to still run the recordings already done on
my version of Paris? I guess I am asking if paris recordings are upward compatible.
I have heard that they are not going the other way.

They will play fine from any version into 3.0. The problem is going
backwards, and it's the auxes that do it because they work differently. You
can, in a pinch, clear every and I mean every aux and get it to play into
version 2.11/2.2.. versions before that I cannot say will work as I've not
tried it.

It's a PITA, and an unnecessary one. There is a tool called AntiPace out
there on the net that can remove that thorn since ID is too self absorbed to
give a crap about the former customer's rights. Doesn't work on a Mac, btw.
Gotta be PC.
