Hey Tom,=20
....yeah, I hear you. I knew the swap was a tall order. =20
I'd suggest the simpler stuff (swapping USB cables, unplugging the other =
gear in the USB port....) but I'll bet you've had a go at that. I have =
had problems with USB printers. I once had multiple printers and had to =
install each driver in a specific order or neither one would work. But, =
given the intermittent nature of the problem, it sure seems hardware =
related. =20
=20
Good luck man.

Thanks Mike,
I don't have anything to swap it out with. I'd hate to return hardware
and then have the problem repeat itself.

Hey Tom
All the things you're thinking might be the problem make sense. I would =
tend to think its the unit itself. If you could find another interface =
to swap that would of course be helpful. =20

Hey guys,
I am losing sync using SMPTE from Paris to a USB
MidiSport 8x8s feeding Cubase SX2. It usually works
for an hour then loses sync. The SMPTE lock light
stops lighting. I know SMPTE is stable. I know USB is=20
working because I can send program changes via the comp=20
to the MidiSport. I've tried rebooting and that's no help. Once=20
it's lost it never comes back. I happen to be at 48k on this
project and am using Brian's 48k stripe.
The MidiSport is still under warranty. The comp
running Cubase is an AMD 1.7. No spring chicken I know.
The mobo USB ports were fried by a MOTU Fastlane USB.
I am now using a PCI to USB card. It shares the Steiny
Key and the Tranzport receiver along with the MidiSport.
Is it possible there is a hardware issue or do you think it is the
drivers? Power supply in the comp? USB cable being intermittent?
I'm going to check IRQs. I don't remember how those are assigned.
Thanks for any thoughts,
Tom
