Does anybody know the official Paris release date? It was '97 wasn't it?
Google says it was available December '97 at least. Must have been sooner.
Anybody know the date, or have a better idea? Let's celebrate the 10th anniversary
next year! :o)

I remember this page "back in the day":

http://web.archive.org/web/19970717151612/www.paris.ensoniq. com/html/paris.htm

....and this one...

http://web.archive.org/web/19980627231724/http://www.paris.e nsoniq.com/

Ah, the memories. Back when I thought Ensoniq would keep their promises,
and that digital home studios would take the power back from the record companies
back to the artists... oh how dreams are shattered. ;o)

Anyhow, we should have a birthday. If we can't find a date we need to make
one up! :o)

Which brings forth another important question. When did the newsgroup start?
I remember it was around by mid '98 when I bought Paris.

Or is all this information lost in the depths of the great beyond...?

I know I took the NG over September '04. I have the date somewhere. Think
it was the 19th... ...in any case the newsgroup archives stretch back to
a year before I took it over. ;o)

Cheers,
Kim.

Don't suppose you have an exact date?

I mean, a man can drink a lot of beer if he has to celebrate for the whole
month...

....come to think of it, a man can just drink a lot of beer regardless. ;o)

Cheers,
Kim.

but it was worth it just for that. ;o)

Cheers,
Kim.

Hehe... I remember when we got our first system... a Bundle
II... it came with a coupon for an upgrade to the MEC when
they were shipping. It was about 4 months I think that we
had the system before the MEC was released. We still have
that original system... and LOTS more! ;-)

My memory is a bit foggy, as I remember it, it was first shown at the January
NAMM show 1997. S.C.S was there doing the demo along with others from Ensoniq.
I remember looking at the 442 and telling them that the standard was 8 in
and 8 out on all audio interfaces that were coming out at that time. I
thought the system was cool, but the 4 I/O wouldn't cut it, because Adats,
DA 88s and 8 Bus boards were 8 ch., and the standard. It seamed like it
took a year before the MEC were available.

At the show they where giving out free MIDI spiders. It was a rubber spider
on the end of a MIDI cable, its eyes would light up to test your MIDI ports
for signal, I still have some new in the package.

Get you red hot Paris Pro collectables!

Speaking of stuff I have, would anybody be interested in buying the official,
limited edition Paris Pro tour poster? Only $20.00, it will look great framed
on your studio wall! I'll even ship it for free. How about an official,
vary limited Paris Pro button up shirt, never worn, by me anyway. Its blue
with an embroidered Paris Pro logo on it. Can you tell it's tax time and
I could use a few extra bucks; )

One of these days I'm gonna throw these things up on ebay.

I got mine in July '98 also.

Sounds like Nov '97 is the earliest vote so far.

Cheers,
Kim

I don't remember when I got mine, but I self-released an album in 1998
that was tracked and mixed with Paris, so I must have gotten mine shortly
after they came out.
