I just bought a Sony PCM D50 field recorder to capture rehearsals and gigs. I used it for the first time 2 days ago. It makes WAV files at different qualities from 94/24 to 44.1/16. For the first time, I used the 44.1/16.
After rehearsal, I came home and loaded them into my imac with no problems. I then burned them to a CD and listened to them. Not bad, but I recorded a little bit too low with the levels so I wanted to put them into paris to bring up the volume with normalization (isn't that the best way?).
Paris is on my old G4 so I put the files on a memory stick and transfered them to my G4. Opened Paris and made a new folder and file and went to the audio window to import them. Clicked on the ADD AUDIO FILES and imported one of the two files. They showed up fine. Went to the edit window to drag them into the playing field and they would NOT move. I highlighted them but they wouldn't move.
Upon rechecking the audio window, I noticed that the size of the R & L files were very small like 00.00.11. I tried this several times, but cannot get the files in correctly.
I took those same files and opened them with Sonic Works and they are fine. About 350mb.
So what am I doing wrong? Do I have to convert them to sdII files or change the WAV to something else?
Never had to do this before so not sure.
Thanks for any help with this. I primarily use Paris to record my own music so never had to import before.
