EDS cards burn up easily if they get too hot. Keep a fan on them and monitor
hard drive temps to keep below 35C. Heat will mess you up big time. My
case is currently open in another room with a fan blowing on it, so i don't
hear the noise.

HI,
1 or 2 or these mounted on your PCI slots will do a good job of keeping
he EDS cards cool and they are quiet.

One time I (a loooong time ago)....... thought I'd see how long of an EDS
reverb time I could set on an aux - I pretty sure I maxed out the setting
and then tried to play it back (I was going for this "fade into reverb
mix-outro-thing"). I completely fried an EDS card from doing that. I think
the effects chip overheated. Other than that, I have ran 4 EDS cards in a
regular case for quite a while with no problems (maybe had 3 fans in it?).
Now I have a very roomy rackmount case with a super fan (7") on the front
and three more inside.

-Carl
p.s. I've switched to rendering my crazy reverb effects since then. :)

Hey!!!........I was the fist person on earth to plug a bidirectional CAT5
cable between a MEC and an EDS card.

careful dude.......I'm thinking about getting two Opcode Studio 64XTC's, a
second Paris system and a 16 track 2". I'm gonna stripe a track on the tape
with smpte, sync one of the paris systems to the smpte stripe via the XTC
while regenerating the smpte with the XTC and sending it to the XTC on the
other Paris system which will then be slaved and will simultaneously send
ADAT sync out to my native DAW. this way I can control my entire studio from
a tape transport. Then I'm gonna start jacking with the deck until I can get
some really good flutter going and I'm gonna mix a project this way, summing
the outputs of all of the audio devices with Hosa "Y" cables to a Mackie
1202 and I'm gonna send it to you to master...........

(fuckin ingrate)
