Hello Fellow PARIS Users,

I have an older computer that was built back in 2003 for my PARIS 3.0 system that is running Windows XP. I started receiving an error message this week indicating that the "File overview was damaged and is being recalculated." This message appears in every project that I open and there are audio segments that consistently repeat that were not in the original recordings. I can't find anything online to help me with this issue. I have had a number of errors populating over the last several years from Windows XP; one of them is attached along with the error message from PARIS. My computer also locks up quite often, which forces me to reboot. Any ideas of what these problems could be and how I can resolve them? I'm also contemplating updating to Windows 7 or 10 if possible. Can anyone please let me know what I will need and where I can find the requirements? I saw Windows 7/8 drivers for $50.

My guess is that your computer is dying. Sounds very similar to my situation with an old XP computer that kind of worked, but was super hard to get booted and PARIS loaded, and then would occasionally lock up.

I built a new system. Life is good now. I detailed the whole process here. Look for the thread from January of this year (2020).

If you're looking not to spend a bunch of money, I think you can spend a whole lot less than I did. You need another computer obviously. If the computer doesn't have PCI slots you'll need a solution for that. Then you'll need Mike Audet's 32/64 driver. If you're running Win 10 then you'll also want the ASIO driver too. I'm not sure if you need the ASIO for Win 7.

If you're running 3.0 with PACE then you have another problem. ID is not supporting PARIS anymore, so no response codes. Also PACE is not compatible with 64 bit operating systems. If you have a copy with the PACE problem fixed then no worries. PM me if you need more help on this issue.

Mike Audet is the guy who wrote the drivers and is THE tech resource on PARIS. You can buy the drivers on his website at ensoniq.ca.

Sounds to me as if your hard disc has developed serious bad sector issues.

Thank you so much for your reply! I had a super busy month for August and September, but life is back to normal now and I'm back to working on my problems with my computer for PARIS. Sorry for the late reply.

I have a Win7 computer that I've been sitting on for a while so I plan to use this computer. I'm not familiar with PACE though. Is this required for my Win7 setup? Once I install that drivers, am I good after that? I'm going to purchase the drivers per the resource you suggested. Thanks!!
