Hi Don,

VirtuaVia in an atx case with a quiet fan. Pcie to 4 PCI. Then get your
PCIE computer of choice and stick the uad pcie cards in that.

Why try and cram all that on one mobo? Sounds like a headache to me..

The magma stuff is noisier, and more expensive. If you can do with 4 pci
slots, virtuavia is the way to go.

Cheers,

TC

Sorry to hear that dude, I just purchased a GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3R. It's got
1 pci-e x16 (x8), 3 pci-e x1 (x2, x4), and 3 regular pci slots. I hope
that's not what you just blew up :-) I think Deej is or was using this, or a
similar motherboard.

Hey TC

Any issues with the VirtuaVia Expansion board.?

I had to pass on Gary's Magma chassis so now I'm looking at alternatives and
as I have a couple of old cases lying around this might be the way to go

Hi Don,

It worked right out of the box with no hassle for me, first on a pc/xp,
then my mac pro running win xp.

I bought Mike's drivers and used those on the mac, since it's multicore,
but there were no irq's that needed to be set in windows, etc. Virtually
painless.

I got the expansion kit and put it in my own rackmount atx case, with a
big silent fan and 500w power supply. It's much quiter than my
experience with the magmas I've had, but of course I guess you could
always swap fans in those also.

Cheers,

TC

Don, I don't have the Gigabyte MB set up yet. I'm planning to use an Intel
Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4Ghz. I'm presently still using an old ASUS
BH6 that East Coast set up with a 1.4 GHz processor upgrade. Really, really
old technology. It's still working without a hitch though. Have you decided
on a new setup?
