It looks like it's possible to eliminate a lot of the background crap in
Vista. If I were going to go down this road, I would want to turn off
everything but my networking capabilities. If any of you IT guys out there
have the time, could you tell me which services to "leave on" in order to
have basic networking to my office computer where all my firewalling is?

Any otherr services that I should leave on that would benefit a DAW?

I thought that the DRM stuff in Vista couldn't be turned off?
If that's the case, THAT's the biggest problem with trying to
use it as an OS for a DAW (importing files from existing
projects done on another compute, being able to play back files
originated on the Vista DAW on any other PC's, etc.)

I've been using vista at home for quite some time, and whilst not using it
for pro audio, I have no problem importing files into Nuendo from my studio
running XP with Nuendo and pro Tools.
I thought that the DRM stuff was only a concern with copyrighted material,
i.e., commercial audio and video.

HI Neil,
DRM has no effect on content that is not copy protected.
There are lots of things preventing Vista from working well with pro
audio but DRM is not one of them.
