For anyone who wants to check out some tunes from your favourite newsgroup
host, please check out:

I'm in the midst of a work ethic/method revolution, where I try and produce
songs within the space of only a couple of hours. All these tunes are recorded
mostly on my GNX-4 looper, then transferred to Paris and vocals and solos
are added. It's usually about a 2-2.5 hour turnaround for a complete song.
And yes some of the recording methods are dodgy... yes I need to get a pop
filter for the mic, and yes the harmonies in Revision need work, but hey,
it's music, I'm getting it done quickly, and I'm having fun, and I think
the vibe is there. :o)

worry about production values, their good enough. You can worry about perfection
later, just get your music out of you.

The production does need improving somewhat, but as you say, it's not that
far wrong. It can be fixed, most of it in the mix. Step one is to get 30
songs done and whittle it down to one good album. So far I've done ten tunes
in about 6 weeks, so three more months and I should have about 30 to choose
from.
Pick the best and go over them with a little more attention to detail and
I should be right to... err... sit in this back room and burn copies of
it for my friends. ;o)

Hey man.............that was nice! I'm gonna DL this and play it for my 84
year old mum at "11" in the car. I'm getting ready to take her for her

Sounds great. A very big present sound, especially considering
how fast you did it, plus the MySpace encoding. I think your
ethic/method revolution is a great idea. I'm trying to figure
out something similar, partly why I may switch from Paris. But
your sound is so big and present, makes me think I shouldn't
switch!!

Some of it certainly wants a proper mix process to take place. Basically,
with a couple of exceptions, the process to date has simply been record it,
edit it, and bounce it. Basic effects have been added, but there's almost
no eq on anything, and even actual levels are quite rough for the most part.
I will certainly go back and take a look at that at some point.

Gee thanks. I must say I'm very happy with the sound myself.
To let out a little secret, my method has a slightly dodgy side, in that
all the audio runs through two Akai MB-76 "audio mix bays" before getting
to the system, which are busy in there adding noise and reducing clarity.
These things are way cool as they let me just press a footswitch and, for
arguments sake, patch my Juno-60 into my ol' school guitar footpedals, or
into my Quadraverb, or both, or into the GNX-4, or into all three, in whatever
combo I like, and then do the same for the digi piano or for the EPS. It's
way cool functionality wise because I can get any sound I'm likely to want
without any manual patches taking place...
....but I was kinda worried that it would take some sheen off the sound,
so your comments are very much appreciated. :o)
And I'm loving the method. In terms of speed, efficiency, inspiration, and
just sheer fun, it's the best thing since, err... actually I'm struggling
to think of something better. ;o) Paris? ;o)

Very enjoyable tunes, not to mention filled with great advice!
The GNX4 has also been an inspirational composing tool here, too. I've
written a number of new songs for my solo show that I multi-track live
on stage. Way fun!

One thing I've learned about the GNX-4, compared to either the GNX3 or the
BNX3, is that it's actually slightly inferior for live looping. On all four
of them, when you are running a loop, you can simply depress the play button
on the unit and it will return to the start of the loop. On the B/GNX-3 this
is an excellent tool live for keeping in sync with a band, as it allows you
to resync the loop at the start of the bar, however unfortunately the GNX-4
has a horrible almost random delay in it when you press play, so if you try
and resync the loop using this method it will end up out of time. On the
B/GNX-3 the response is instant, but on the 4 it's not, rendering the feature
fairly useless.
I suspect it's because the 3 series have onboard memory where I'm suspicious
the "working loops" are stored while in operation. The 4 I think works directly
of the CF card and hence communications is a little slower. I've been meaning
to write to digitech about it in the hope that they can fix it in a firmware
update, but I'm not holding my breath. If you get a moment perhaps you could/should
do the same. The ability to resync the loops in a live scenario would be,
well I don't have to tell you how useful it would be. ;o)
But it's a great tool none the less, and I'm loving it. :o)

Annoyingly there's only two songs up there at the moment. I have two more
I keep trying to load but Myspace won't load them. Not sure why. I've tried
twice now. First time it came back with errors. This time it's still processing...
But it is astounding how the Paris sound can shine through so much. Especially
I guess on something like that which is barely mixed, and hence has few other
plugs and effects, it's very easy to hear that overall Paris thing in the
sound.
And I do love that. ;o)
