PARISian TC has verified that VirtuaVia expansion chassis (four PCI-slot external chassis with a cable that terminates in a PCI-e adapter card you plug into the host computer) work very nicely with PARIS hardware, allowing you to expand your available PARIS-friendly PCI slots and (in conjunction with Mike's new drivers) making IRQ headaches a thing of the past.

Make sure you get the bare chassis, the one that doesn't come with case or power supply (buy your own with the specs you need). This is the one:

Hi Kerry,

your link isn't right any more !
Here is the new Link :

http://www.virtuavia.eu/shop/pci-express-to-pci-expansion-bo x.html
or another Link, there are 2 Versions of chassis with Powersupply, this one fits with EDS Cards, below in the link !!
http://www.exsys.ch/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=92&a mp;a mp;a mp;zenid=668fc67be85eb9de557760064db47afc

This one is the Exsys Chassis and i have many problems with it (discribed here : http://kerrygalloway.com/ParisForums/index.php?t=msg&th= 15523&start=0& ). This one works fine with 2 Cards, but if i have installed the 3rd card, my computer get frozen after starting Paris. And after a while, i will get blue screen.

Have you some screenshots, in wich way you install your eds and ribbons. I believe i have done all very well, but i am not sure !

Thx
Daniel

It looks like VirtuaVia only has this available: PCI-Express x1 to dual PCI,
I guess that might work.

Interested in anything that is working for everyone that's on Window 7.

Thanks, michael

Just in case anyone is reading this thread, my advice is to get a Magma 13 slot P13R or the 7 slot P7R4 on ebay, upgrade with quiet fans and a fanless power supply (like a Seasonic 600W Fanless Ti - $250 in 2020, so not cheap), and run on a totally modern, Windows 10 computer using Mike Audet's drivers. Runs great, you'll have access to all of the latest hardware, and you can run Reaper on the same system and that fills in some important holes that PARIS has.

Here's the detailed Magma info (c. early 2020) with part numbers:

********************************************

You want either the 13 slot P13R or the 7 slot P7R4. With the 13 slot you'll also need a card that goes into the Magma chassis: PCIEIF68. That's the card that the cable attaches to on the Magma end. For the 7 slot Magma the cable connection on the Magma side is part of the chassis.

Other Magma chassis' look similar but might not fit the EDS card. I know for sure that some don't fit. The EDS card uses one of the earlier standards for a PCI card.

The cable you need is either the 1 m long CBL1HF or the 1.5 m long CBL1.5HF.

For the host computer you can get either a PCI or a PCIe card.
- PCI - PCIHIF68 (very similar number to the 13 slot Magma side card)
- PCIe - PEHIFX1

I got both for flexibility.

You can buy new at One Stop Systems for $2500, or go used on ebay for $300-500. I had to buy all the parts separately, and get the cable new.

No drivers were necessary. XP and Windows 10 recognized the hardware.
