ok folks I am gonna try to keep this thread to one simple question. Is anyone using XP64 with Paris with success? Has anyone tried?

I took the time (LOTS of time) to weed through the search and see if this has been brought up at all. The only one I see that is relevant is a recent post by drfrankencopter. But everyone answered his questions except that one. Perhaps no one knows. At least that would be a valid answer... Because I am about to find out!

I moved away from Paris and onto a XP64, Gigabyte AMDX2 4GB motherboard, firewire / Reaper system using UAD-2 Nevana. Great sonics and rock solid!

However, I didn't think it would ever happen, but I am now in need to pull up some old Paris projects from early 2000 and 2001 that is archived on discs that I want to remaster. Unfortunately it is just not the same to convert the .paf files and bring them into Reaper because I had tweaked specific EDS DSP effects that can't be re-produced in anything known to man! lol.

I did purchase Mike's new drivers, so I am gonna install an EDS card in my current system and see if I can get Paris working in XP64. Hopefully it works and I'll report back with the results if anyone is interested.

By the way, I have to honestly admit... move to 64bit OS when you can. Just awesome for speed! I did run into a few driver issues. But none of them were show stoppers. If you're planning a future system, consider 64 bit. Hopefully after Windows 7 is released more vendors will consider better 64bit support!

Yeah, I am about to shoot home from work and give 'er a shot! The only thing I am unfamiliar with is Mike's new driver. Everything else should be smooth. of course, I'll need to ghost my system before I splurge... lol. I'll report back on the progress...

Well, it is a NO GO! It sees the card, but as soon as I try to load the Paris software... Grrrrrrrrrr! Incompatibale to 64! Damit! I heard that Paris 3.1 will be 64bit compatible when it's released... lol. Back to the closet with the EDS! I'll have to convert everything... An holy crap did my computer's tempature increase extensively with the EDS card.

Oh well! I guess it isn't possible for someone to reverse engineer the Paris software? Or someone write a whole new program. Why is ID being so stingy with a dead software?

But I have to once again say... move to 64bit if you can. It is awesome! I have read articles that after Windows 7, microsoft realizes that they must move to 64bit and drop the 32bit. They're already talking about Window 8 and the 7 isn't even released yet... lol.

Sorry for the false alarm, but now we can positively say that the Paris 3.0 software is only 32bit!
