In the Cubase 4 manual, there is some confusing mumbo jumbo about
creating/associating midi devices with external FX processors. the wording
would lead one to believe that it is necessary to either or create or
associate a midi device with an external fx processor in order for Cubase 4
to ping for hardware latency in order to for delay compensation to be
measured. WTF??? Sorry, but my Distressor doesn't seem to have a midi port.
My reverbs do, but they are interfaced digitally and there is no audible
delay with them anyway. Is this some kind of bullshit specifically placed in
the Cubase 4 manual because they know I hate jacking around with midi and
they are monitoring all of my posts on the internet, just waiting for me to
post about this so they can get a good laugh?

where's my coffee ??? I need something to wash down my meds!!!
