Wow Doug, your bailing on the UAD-1 cards, which way are you going now?
Any thoughts of coming back to Paris?

I'm thinking maybe he just built a new PC with 8 Quad-cores &
4 Terabytes of RAM, so he don't need no stinkin' card-supported
plugins no more. lol

I've got an i7 rig running the equivalent of 8 x cores at 3.66GHz per core
with 6Gb RAM on the boards right now. should be here next week.

I'm going to either add a UAD-2 Duo and try to integrate my Duende card into
this as well or if the Duende doesn't play nice with the new mobo, I may
go ahead and sell it and get another UAD-2 Quad. I'm going to hold on to
the Duende for now as SSL looks like it may be coming out with something
pretty unique with the new V3 OS that can balance the DSP load between the
card and the host CPU, plus the new X-Verb might allow me to sell off some
of my hardware verbs and the sample rate converters that are reclocking them
for use at 88.2. It looks like this reverb might be a very high-end product.
It's something I'm willing to wait for. I did not know that SSL was going
to be coming out with this upgrade when I put the Duende card up for sale.

The UAD-1's and the Magma are now up on EBay.

An offer of $1k will take the whole shootin match. A guy from Hungary is
pretty interested right now so who knows how long they will be FA? You know
you need these or you will die.

X-Verb? You mean you don't have a Bricasti yet?

I'd tell you about mine, but then you might have to get one or else die,
and I don't want to be responsible for that..

Cheers,

Bricasti eh? I've heard nothing but great things about that piece. Congratulations
on your new family member.

Deej, that 8 x cores 3.66GHz sounds smokin! Now you just need to get Mac
OSX running on it with Logic Studio; ) Sorry, I just couldn't resist.
Hey, don't forget Paris Reaper PC, you could have a real monster setup again.
Last night a friend of mine that is a hard core Steinberg user told me he
is liking Sonar more now and he is pulling away from Steinberg and all the
dongle check stuff, he hates that.

Thanks, I think it was a great investment. It's really remarkable at
being able to put the source in the space. Your brain never goes "oh,
there's a reverb effect on that", it just sounds very natural..

Sorry, wasn't supposed to say anthing ;-)

Cheers,

TC

Wow..
I'd love to see if anyone is running Hackintosh OS X on one of those.
It's just been made a whole lot easier now, with the intro of Chameleon boot
loader V2 .. Now you can get OS X updates without having to reinstall all
the relevant kexts.
