Very nice Bill,
I agree. The guitar work is great and very clean without feeling
clinical. The solo is sweet. Maybe enhance that to sweeten it a bit
above the rest of the mix. It should shine or it shouldn't be there. =20
The vocal would be nice down two or three db but don't lose it. A =
little=20
stereo treatment might sweeten it too.

I like the mix a lot! Things I would tweak:
1.) The kick - it's got a little too much impact for this type
of groove - I would soften it up a bit, roll off a bit of 3k-
4k, somewhere in there. ALSO, there are too many of 'em... the
double-hit every measure is too much. Can you change it up a
bit without too much hassle (re-syncing MIDI, etc), maybe mute
some of the hits via automation? I think if you did something
like leave it as is for a few measures, then once the vocals
start cut it back to hit/hit-hit/hit/hit-hit, then a cycle of
hit/pause/hit-hit/pause, then repeat.
2.) There's something a little bit "cloudy" in the lower mids of
Vikki's voice on this one... I'm not sure if it's a little too
much of something in there, or a little too little of something
somewhere else/a bit higher. I would try cutting in the
500-ish range and then maybe adding a bit of "air" in the 16k
range. Anyway, something sounds different on the vox in this
one than I remember hearing her sound before - did you try a
different signal chain this time, by chance?
2b.) I noticed a couple people said they thought the vox was
too hot... I didn't mind it, but if you cut a little bit around
400-600 (if that gets rid of the cloudiness), then that might
also take enough body out of it to where you won't neeed to cut
the level at all.
3.) Definitely more cowbell. And Doumbek, too. :)

Neil, you busted me on a couple things. I actually originally had fewer
kicks, exactly as you suggested, but I caved thinking that I needed more
to suit the "modern" sound. Thanks for straightening me out on that.
I did boost some lows with a UAD Pultec. I used their female vocal
setting, duh. Man, am I lazy. I thought it had too much bottom too, then
I forgot about it. It does happen to be a completely different signal
chain, but I don't think that was the cause. AT 4050 > Yamaha I88x.
The cowbell is actually at plus 20 dB, but I have a duplicate track out
of phase, so you can't actually hear them, but the "vibe" is there,
which will for sure make it a hit, 'cause that's how I put my pants on,
dude.

Well, two things: a.) If you're using the Pultecky-thing, don't
forget that kinda the signature sound of that EQ is to boost &
cut the same freq at the same time, esp. on the low-end, so
maybe try that if you like something that that particular plug
imparts. And, b.) Didn't you mention that you'd picked up
Voxengo's Voxformer? If so, try that plugin's Female Voice
preset... big-time tasty!

Hey,
Sorry for the delayed two-cents, been busy. I love the Beatles and this
is a very cool idea. Very well done. I'm with Neil on the vocal EQ. What
I found myself wanting to hear was less vocal and more band, esp percussion
(except shaker was fine as is). Mostly I wanted to hear a harmony vocal,
especially on the ending phrases where the melody does that sixth jump,
e.g., " . . . compares with you" or " . . . love you more". But that's
just me. Love a nice two part harmony.
Very nice guitaring, too. :)
