Does anyone here have any experience with the DiscWasher type products that
supposedly repaidr scratches and scuffs on CD and DVD surfaces to restore
them to a redable condition again?

No, but if you use a cloning type program like Nero or better still, DVD
shrink, it should copy the disk without the errors.

Chris,
I took a couple of CD's to the local video store some months back. They
were pretty dinged up and the store had a disk washer thingy. Both disks
came out looking alot better, and while before I was having some glitches on
playback, afterwards they were gone.

You can also use Brasso to polish the scratches out.

Really? Isn't Brasso kinda harsh? I would think something like
Meguiar's (car polish) would be better... when it was still
legal to shoot nitrocellulose in California, we used to use
that as the final buff-out at a custom guitar company I worked
at years ago, and I still use it if I need to rub out a scuff
on my guitars (well, not the ones with an oil finish - that
would just be a big gooey mess lol!).

What about plain toothpaste? I've heard that works good for
CD's - or is that just one of those urban legend thingies?

there are alot of repair kits out there.do a web saerch. they all work . I
prefer a bench grinder and bondo.
