Hey guys, I need some major help here. Recently one of my audio drives crashed.
I had not experienced any difficulties with this drive. I was importing new
files to an existing project. All went well with this. Once I started to
play the project, I received a "system overload" error...never saw that before,
but the project had a huge amount of files, so I figured I'd just restart
Paris and remove the unneeded files.
Upon restarting Paris, the system froze and I rebooted. Upon rebooting, I
received a notification that my audio drive had to be defragged. I did notice
that there was a limited amount of space on the drive, which I felt might
be a contributing factor. Once I started the defrag process, the performance
slowed to a snail’s pace and then I received a message that the defrag process
could not continue and the system froze. Upon a reboot, I was now told that
the audio drive had errors. Even though I back-up religiously, there is always
new data that may get missed. after several reboots. I was able to get into
the drive and copy the few files that had not been backed up.
A bigger problem arose today. When I booted up, I forgot that the failed
audio drive was still inline. Despite opening yesterday, I heard several
clicks and then received the Blue Screen" message, (paraphrasing here) "A
childlike device was connected to your PCI..." I have seen that message some
years ago and it is typically very bad news. Now it seems My "system" drive
no longer boots...full crash, though the problem I had was initially with
the audio drive failing. At startup, I'm receiving "Insert Boot Disc" messages.
I'm hoping that I do not have to reformat the "system" drive.
Any and all assistance greatly appreciated!
