Hi,
I have DJ's p2B-LS motherboard with mmx 350 PII cpu, vintage right ?
This is for Lexicon core32 and two DSPFX cards and one Pulsar card !!
So now switching in beetween windows there is much latency ...
Memory is 192 mb and OS is Windows Me.
Don't please advice to get a faster computer !!
Just advice if possible what would cure that !!
Thanks
Dimitrios

HI Dimitrios,
What video are you using?
I would try Win 98SE on it. Windows ME might be causes some of the issues.
Have you done any of the (*/ME windows audio tweaks?

Windows ME?!? You sick, sick man. Put 98 (or even XP if you'll pay for a little
RAM) and throttle down all of the eye candy and you should be fine.

I think there is a driver issue with XP IIRC?
98se is more stable, but IME ME was (gag) better at handling mulitmedia.

Ghost your image. Then...

I would first check out that ME hasn't automagically changed some IRQ
assignments for you on it's own causing a conflict with video. It does that.
Next, I would get a good nVidia video card and drop into the AGP slot. Be
careful when you install the new card because it might try to install a
newer DirectX version that could hose up your DX effects.

Also, get yourself a Power Leap CPU upgrade. I put one on my Asus P2B-LS
(and before that the P2B-f) mobo and it's a WAY different machine. Hopefully
they still have it, it's a celeron 1.3Ghz on a slot style mini PCB.

Yeah, I think Edmund even posted something about it being tighter on the
midi timiing all else being equal.
These days however, ME is better suited for Mulletmedia presentation.

Thanks guys...
Lexicon core32 and DSPFX cards do NOT work under XP so I used Me instead
of win98se because I had that !
It works great anyway.
I am using a very old vga card that probably has no memory on board whatesoever...
So what about ram ?
is 192MB sufficient ?

Dimitrios

Pull up the memory cache (page faults) readings and see what it's using.
IIRC, I have a GB of RAM installed on my P2b. If you need some RAM let me
know, I think I have some 128 modules floating loose around here.

HI Dimitrios,
I would use at least a video card that has 32 megs of on board memory. I
would have at least 256 megs of ram for the system but wouldn't bother
with more than 512.

Figure out what shipping is, cover that and I'll just send 'em to you.
2 of them (256MB@PC133) cover you?
