Hi all,
I assume this is a hardware fault my system has suddenly gone weird with...
When I start Paris, unusually, the speakers make a kind of thump on the way
in, and the right channel kinda squeals for a sec.
To top off this weirdness, once in Paris, no sound comes out. Furthermore,
pressing play often results in an error "Playback was stopped while hardware
is reset". Also, the audio meters on one (or both maybe?) of the mixer windows
kinda jams, and ends up displaying audio which you can't hear, and while
playback is stopped.
Does this make any sense?
I thought before I start opening things up I'd post here and see if anybody
has a suggestion.
I figure first I'll reseat everything. Then if that doesn't help, try just
half the hardware, or the other half, until I work out what does or doesn't
work, or if it's software...
....but has anybody heard of this type of misbehavior?

For the meter thing, try bypassing plugs on that channel to
see if it's a plug causing the problem.

Last time I had this kind of stuff going on a daughterboard had fried. I
hope this is not the case for you, but if it is contact TheSoniq.

Aaron,
Whatever it is, it's something a little temperamental. I tried again later
in the day and got sound out of the system, albeit briefly, and from just
one of my two cards, but that's making me think that the system got through
a critical stage in the startup process in a fully functional state after
which some connection somewhere decided to go south before I played the project
back. Could be wrong, but that's my sixth sense for what happened.
If I'm right, in combination with your input, it could be just a matter of
reseating a daughter board perhaps if I'm lucky. Either way it's looking
like I'll have to pull my computer apart and reseat everything (including
daughter boards) and put it back together and see where I end up.
