I recently made an EBay purchase and received a confirmation from a guy
named Dale with a phone number. I gave him a call to discss the shipping
details and like all gearheads we started talking about gear. I was thinking
to myself what a nice guy this was and how knowledgable he was abou to many
things, a refreshing turn of events after the wanker I've been dealing with
on "that other issue". He asked me what kind of console I was using and I
told him that I used a rack full of preamps, but I had more forssell
circuitry in there than any other kind. He said "Hey!!! I know Fred". Well,
turns out I was talking to Dale Epperson of Old School Audio. I've heard
nothing but praise concerning his product. We talked some more. I told him
that I was afraid to buy a lunchbox because if I did, I would have to fill
it up within 30 days and then buy another one. We had a good laugh. Very
nice guy.

It's a small world (it might be about the size of a lunchbox....who knows?)

;o)

The audio world is indeed a small one - at least in our little
working corner of it. Between just the folks on this small
newsgroup you could probaby do the "six degrees of separation"
game with nearly anyone in the music or pro engineering biz,
except it would be more like "three degrees of separation".

Yeah, it's a small world. Dale is/was an API tech specialist. Back in
the '90s I bought, through him, an API console and he parted some of the
modules out for me, and I kept a bunch. Later I traded all of the API
stuff to him for OSA pres. He's a very knowledgeable cat.

I really like him. Corresponded with him again today. He's affiliated with :

http://www.cras.org/

He said if I got really busy and needed an assistant that he would send me a
slave (.........errr.........conservatory student needing hands on
experience) and I could keep him/her busy doing whatever. He said they are
looking for studios (closer to Arizona) to apprentice their students. I
guess these are getting few and far between.

I know if I bought a lunchbox, it would drive me insane until I filled all
the spaces. It's an evil plot, I tell you.
