Hi all.
I remember a while ago people were running Cubase on a separate machine, using ADAT sync to keep the two boxes locked.
Up until recently, I have been using a Frontier Dakota card on a WINXP machine with no problems.
I have built a newer PC to run Cubase, under WIN7 64bit.
I had problems getting the Dakota running on the new machine.
I purchased an RME 9652 quite cheaply, and the drivers installed fine. Everything is working, except that When Paris is stopped, the outgoing sync causes Cubase to hover around the stop point, but play and stop keep toggling very rapidly. If there is a midi note at the point where Cubase stopped, it keeps endlessly triggering that note continuously, and very rapidly.
This is my first experience with RME stuff.
ave I missed something? Is there a hidden command or config setting that I have overlooked?
Any insight would be appreciated.

Hi Kim - no particular insights except to say that ADAT sync between PARIS and a 9652 was running rock solid on my system, although my own system was on a single computer and the slave DAW was Reaper. It should be beatable but I'm afraid I don't have any specific tips - if any jump to mind I'll post right away.

Hi Kim,

I'd like to set up the same thing as you: Cubase and Paris on the same Windows 7 64bit machine with a RME 9652 and ADAT sync. Did you get this to work now? I heard Will had this kind of problem too:

So far no go.
I'm using a separate PC for Cubase.
I have gone back to Windows XP for the Cubase machine.
At the moment I'm using the old Frontier Designs Dakota.
That seems to be the most solid.
The reason for going to Windows 7 was that I could install the 64 bit OS and take advantage of the extra RAM.
Next experiment will be to create a 64 bit XP partition, and see if that will work without the jittery "stop" mode. I don't really care, as long as it works.
The Dakota worked with Win7, but I was getting crashes. The drivers available are only beta, and there's no sign of an update, as the Dakota is pretty much history.
RME have better support, so I'm hoping it will work just as well on XP 64 bit, as it does on 32 bit.
Will keep you posted.
I have never tried to run Cubase and Paris on the same machine.

I just noticed that RME have released a new driver, as at 19th July this year.
I'm going to download it and see if the issues are fixed.

Interestingly enough both Will and Daniel had the exact same "stutter" as you with the RME 9652. And Will even had that under XP. So it seems to be more down to the RME's way of transferring the incoming signal to the ASIO Positiong Protocol.

As I intent to use Paris with my Hardware Synths and Sequencer, I am holding off with the RME-Cubase solution, and try to line up my Hardware tracks either manually with a Clicktrack or by striping SMPTE (MPC) or striping Smart FSK/Beat Clock with JL Cooper PPS-2. Ol skool methods for ol skool equipment.

It would still be interestig whether the MOTU Digital Timepiece could interpret PARIS ADAT Sync properly and convert it to SMPTE to tync another DAW. RME also have the TCO option card for their HDSPe cards that transfers incoming LTC to ASIO Positioning Protocol (Windows only). Might be working better, but I shy the effort right now. MOTU DTPs go for peanuts on ebay though, lol.
