Hey Mike,
Hey Mike,
So you use it in stereo but the right side is the key input
an the left is a mono ducking comp? Ties up a channel
but that's ok if it works. Does audio pass through the
right side unaffected?

Yo!
"The Ducker" is now posted at www.ensoniq.ca for your downloading =
pleasure.
The Ducker is the first side chain compressor for the PARIS system. =
Based
on the PARIS Compressor, it compresses the left signal based on the =
right
input, allowing for ducking or creating new sounds by altering the =
side chain
signal with eq or distortion.
Let me know what you think!

Hi Tom,
The right channel isn't passed at all. The output is the left side on both
the right and left output (mono over two channels).
The idea I had was you can set the compressed channel's effect send to pre-fader
and then mute it. The output of the effect then becomes that channel's output
into the mix. The side chain signal can either be muted the same way and
not be part of the mix at all, or you can blend it in if you are ducking
by using the channel fader as usual.
I had to get creative to make it work with the PARIS mix topology. But,
it works!
All the best,
Mike

Hi John,
Thanks for the support! I took a look at the eventiter code, and it already
assumes 44.1 for its calculations, so unless you're working at 48k, a sample
rate fix won't help the sound.
Does it get grainy just at high input volumes? I could probably add a input
gain knob, if it doesn't already have one. I bought a copy of it back in
the day, but I don't use that type of effect much, so I'm not that familiar
with it.
I've been hacking DSP code regularly these days, but I still can't read most
of it. I doubt I'd be able to improve the algorithm itself (at least not
until I can figure out more of the ESP assembler syntax).
Let me know what you think.

Mike--it's been a while since I used it but it seemed one side was kinda buggy...
