Hey all,
Looking for some help on setting up one UAD-1
card in a paris system. I know you need to install
a wrapper.
So Paris sees the card but needs the wraper to get it
going.
What is the best way on doing this right?
So the UAd card is intalled in it's own folder as of now.
No wrapper install as of yet.
I could not find the folder for Paris VST plug-in's,
Is it in paris main folder?
So anyway I don't need to mess this up any help would be great.
Also Paris is a 32 track system (2 X EDS-1000 cards)
Cheers and thanks !!
JA.

PARIS doesn't have a specific VST folder, it's any folder you designate in the (I think) VST Folder menu preference. Check out Don's links in the previous thread, he's got a pretty good how-to tutorial there (I think it's definitely time to take that and other good UAD info, format it all up in a definitive version and get it up on the Wiki).

Well I read the post but don't realy see how to do it.
I know you have to put the wrapper in the VST folder.
So do I just open the folder and past the warpper there
in the VST folder?

After that should I just point paris to the folder and
it should work right? Or am I missing something.

No one realy tells how to do it step by step. So i'm
just guessing here some ya know. Rolling Eyes

Any help would be great. Thanks !!

Cheers,

JA.

I see your point, there's some assumed knowledge here.

We could indeed use a real (forgive me) "For Dummies" tutorial on this - I will be the first person reading it when I take the UAD plunge.

Ok, a update.
I set it up with the Wrapper inside the VST folder with the plug-ins. I hope that part was right. Then I set my VST path to the Vst folder form Paris. I had to close paris to reset it. But then I got a blue windows screen and had to reboot the computer.

So I opened Paris Pro again and opened my project and tryed to open the powerd plug-ins and got this message:

An error occured in creating insert.
Error Code 1011 / 3f3

So what's that all about?

I'm doing something wrong?

Also I always get a:

Welcome to the found new hardware wizard
To help you install your new hardware
( Ensoniq Scherzo )

So will this screen aways come on everytime I boot my computer?
The software was loaded on the first EDS-1000 card and I just
added another EDS-1000 card. But it looks like it's looking for the software for it also. But after I start Paris it finds is fine. Anyway to stop the " Ensoniq Scherzo message"

ok, that whats my update on the beast.
Any help would be great......and thanks again too.

Cheers,

Jeff

Yea, I came form useing 2" tape machines. so computers
are still my weak spot for sure.
I'm getting better bit still a far cry form a programer.

I can build one but all the
programing can be a bit much. I get around on them
running programs, emails but still learning how to do
things like Wrappers, Road mapping Vst for Paris.
But this is how we learn Very Happy

So much to learn with any computer based recording software.
I use to use Mark of the Unicorn 2408 & 24i with Sampiltude
It worked ok but the converters are very week link on the Motu
gear for sure (for me).

I'm sure we will get it with your guys help.
Shure glad your all hear to help.

I'm trying to remember the sequence and I think it went

Install wrapper to it's default location ???? but the dll is in the fxpansion folder that you unzipped, downloaded or whatever

Install UAD to it's default location (program files / universal Audio))

Install waves to their default location (program files / Waves)

Now I also have a Steinberg folder that has a VXT folder and that's where I put the faderworks folder and installed faderworks within that folder

Also inside the Steinberg VST folder is a Powered Plugin folder and that's where I C&P the fxpansion "fxvdx30.dll"

At least that's how I think it went

Check your PMs

skype is a chat system - go to skype.com - download and install it - choose a user id and password - look under new "add contact" type in dnafe23 and we should be able to chat.

If you have an ear piece/mic headset we can talk person to person...just click on the small green phone after you've located me

Unfortunately my paris rig is not internet friendly so a phone call would be much better

I just pointed Paris VST Path to my song file right?

Maybe I'm missing someting here. Help !!

Ok, looks like it's working now. It seems that in the list
for the VST plug-ins, there are two list 1) UA-1 list and a
VST UA-1 list.

If you try and use the UA-1 plug-ins they hang up and gives you a error message. If you try and use the VST UA-1 plug-ins they all seem to work fine. I did not notice I had two list of the same plug-ins intill I looked at them all.

Ok, now they are working I think!!

Last thing, I have some DX plugs form Cakewalk I would also like to use. Do I install them in there own folder or the VST folder.
I don't need the wrapper for them I don't think. Where is the best place to put them.

Thanks,

Jeff
