I was telling a friend of mine who owns a studio about my project to record my other friend's unreleased song.

He volunteered the use of his "B" studio for tracking, which not only has a grand piano mic'd up with the Earthworks PM40 system, but also a vocal booth and a percussion booth, and PTHD rig.

I got damn lucky on that.

In my mind, I should track to SD2 files instead of wav. Both systems are Macs.

I lean on the collective wisdom of the group. What will provide the least painful import into Paris when I'm done?

If both systems are Mac (PTHD & PARIS) then SD2s are best. If they are stereo files, you can import them directly into PARIS using Audio>Add audio file in the Audio window or the arrange window. (It will split the stereo files ans create PAFs). If none of the files are stereo, and you have a bunch of tracks, using PAF>SD2 convert is faster.

You probably know this already, but if my recollection is correct, the PARIS app will refuse to import SDII files unless you remember to actually label them with the .sd2 file extension, ie kick.sd2. It won't just see them by their type/creator code like other Mac apps; that was a brief show-stopper for me until I realized what was going on.

Good call. That was something I knew, but had forgotten about.
