Did you save a project and then close Paris with the loop function enabled?
If so, this is likely the reason. Open the project, disable the loop
function, save the project under a new name and you should be good (if this
is he error I think it is). This code is one of the *features* that isn't
mentioned in the manual.

good luck,

DJ

I've dealt with this issue quite a bit.

I've even caused it on purpose to try to figure out how to fix
it.
(recording with looping on (with no punch points) will cause it)

Anyway, in ALL cases that I've seen, the error seems to be caused
by a corrupted segment on the playing field.. actually, I believe
it is caused by a corrupted crossfade, to be specific.

Whenever, I get this error, I remove the last take/edit from the
playing
field
(between the dialogs popping up), save, quite and restart paris.

At this point, the problem seems to go away.

Good luck!

Try increasing your disk cache and overview sizes in the Config menu. On
the problem project, clear the Undo buffer and delete the Markers.

I never have that problem anymore (like once every 6 months now) since I
increased my disk cache size to 128MB and my overview to 21000KB.

The looping is a button on the C16 and on the transport window that has a
start and end point to loop over and over. You probably don't have that
on if you don't know what it is.

Have you been doing any crossfades?

I would bet on your paris.cfg file needing optimizing.
C:\program files\ensoniq\paris\paris.cfg

This is what mine is set to:

*** PARIS Configuration ***

*** ENGINE configuration parameters ***
* Cache Size in MB
CacheSize=128

* Overview cache size in KB
OvwCacheSize=8192

* I/O configuration
IOSize=256

* SubMix Cache Size in KB
SubMixCacheSize=256

ManualRecDelay=4096

RecXFadeLen=20
Use32BitWinMTC=0

DisableDirectX=0

MasterOutputCard=0

ScrubMaxRate=1

WheelSensitivity=20

WheelInertia=68

CSProVersion=ABCDEFGH

VSTDirectory=C:\vsts\

MIDIPlayDisabled=1

Also,

Try resetting the record path to a new empty folder.
Or if you are on the Mac and running anything before OS 9 you may have
run out of open files (MacOS limit). If this is the case try clearing
unused files from the audio window.

two lines of thought on this one is your set up settings which john
has addressed. the other which he touched on was the loop function
and the other is the punch in function. if either was active (on) on
saving a file this error will occur. the best temp work around is to
as soon as the song loads turn off those listed if on and immediately
hit the save as and rename the file. do not open any gui or hit play
as this will trigger the error message and pretty much lock you out
from doing the above.
