So far, all the "Monkey" remixes I've heard on the site have
been in the dance/trance/electronica/ambient vein.... mine's the
only rock-oriented remix/reproduction up there. Someone do a C&W
or Jazz version just to spice things up, willya? lol

OK. I'd done a "just using original trax" remix, but it wasn't going ANYWHERE...
Forms a good basis though. Working on the jazz remix right now. :o)
By the way, I don't know what rating I gave yours... I clicked something
(not the stars) and it said "rating accepted" and went "But I didn't rate
it yet!!" so if you get there and I've given you a zero or something my apologies!
;o)
Cheers,
Kim.

What I need here is some horn players to play that main synth line...

Greetings Everyone!
I know this is in reference to an "oldish" post, but I was wondering if many
people downloaded these files. I did, but never got around to messing with a
remix. Anyway, I was wondering what people's thoughts were on these tracks.
I like Peter Gabriel, and always though his albums/CD's sounded great. I
assumed the raw tracks would be "pristine", but soloing these tracks, you
can hear all kinds of buzzing, hiss, and just a real noisy noise in general.
I'm wondering if anyone else was surprised by this. I still think his stuff
sounds great, it just threw me a little that the individual tracks would be
so noisy. Comments?
Tony

Tony -
I downloaded the tracks and played around with them a little, but
never really got back into it. Someday, I will have time and "monkey"
around with these tracks more earnestly. Kudos to Peter and Real World
Studios for releasing these tracks.
Since these are the raw tracks, I am not too surprised with their
quality. I know my recordings start with pretty dull sounding tracks
that then get polishing in the mixdown process. Of course, the
difference between PG and me is that he is polishing gold nuggets,
whereas I am polishing, well, you know what!

Well, I can understand the tracks not sounding "finished", but what
surprised me most was the amount of hum and buzz and general low signal to
noise. I always assumed the "big boys" would take a lot of care to eliminate
that kind of stuff. I know I fret over a lot less in my tracks. Like I said,
I like the way his records sound. I guess that's why the noise surprised me
so much.
