Hi all,
Ok, I've decided to keep my 737sp, and I just bought a 747 for the 2-buss. I recently also got a red type b mic, which I really like!
Now, I've got a Rode K2 here which has never really done it for me either (on mainly vox and acoustic gtrs). Anyone found good uses for these? Tube replacement maybe?
I know it's not ever a great idea to sell mics, but I just find it's one of those mics that I have to fight with, say compared to the type b. It's not as clear or present to my ears.
I've got a good friend who loves the K2 mic on cello (above some much higher end mics), but I don't think I'll be recording cello anytime soon..
Any thoughts?

Why is it a bad idea to sell mics? I mean if the thing isn't
working for you, shitcan it - I might try that one, I've heard
good things about it - maybe it's just not a good compliment to
any of the particular pres you have (although I hear that pretty
much ALL Rode's are bright mics - doesn't the 737 like it?)

Yeah, true enough.
I just find that it's a little too round sounding, not enough of the presence and detail, and maybe a little bright.
This is mostly as a vocal mic though. As I said, my friend loves it for cello above any other mic, and he's done tons of
session work (mostly jazz).
For me, it just feels a little too cloudy with the 737, which is really not a colored pre to begin with.
I think I'm just looking to bump up my collection to things that I know I'll use. I like the Red b, I've got an AT4047, NT5's,
SM7b, 57's, 58's.
I'd like to get an AEA ribbon mic, and eventually a tube mic that's a bit closer what I'm looking for. The red can take blue caps and
CMV563 caps also, so there are lots of options there.
