Which Power Supply for Avid/Magma 7 Slot? [message #81099] Sat, 03 March 2007 15:02 Go to next message

I'd like to replace this incredibly loud fan with something that sounds less
like a jet aircraft. Do replacement power supplies all come with the same
connectors to fit the motherboard and other boards, drives, etc. or are there
various types of power supplies for AT, ATX, etc.? If so, which one is the
right type for the Magma?

The folks at Magma are absolutely hostile to anyone with older versions of
their equipment, so they are no help.

Thanks for any advice.

Then to get back at them I would advise sending said older gear
back to them dusted in - oh let's say powdered sugar or fine
flour - Then turn in to any cable news channel a few days later
& chuckle at the headline: "Anthrax Scare Hits Electronics
Firm!"

:D

Seriously, though - can't you just count the lead-outs & make
sure you get one that has at least that same number?

Hi Gary,
Most of the AVID branded ones I've seen use standard ATX connectors.

The internal fans can be a pain to replace because they are thinner than
standard PC fans.
