Multiple EDS Error [message #64301]

Hi Everyone,

This is my first time posting and I really could use some help. I just installed
a 2nd EDS card and I am getting this message:

"Your EDS cards are not setup correctly and play back may not be correct"

I followed the directions(pictures) as found in a FAQ document I found on
the Internet. I also oriented all the red strips on the cables toward the
back of the computer as described in the manual. My MEC is plugged into the
card closest to the video card and there are 2 slots vacant between the video
card and first EDS.

Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks for your help.

Hi Michael and welcome.I've got a 4 EDS 2 MEC rig that I've been
having problems with.I get this not connected properly error
every now and then right now,but I believe they're connected
properly as this system worked previously.

Probabbly going to do a reinstall of the 3.0 software and see
what happens.I'll let you know.

Are you on PC or Mac?WHat version of PARIS?Running XP if your on
PC?

Platform?
OS?
Number and type of interfaces?
How many ribbon cables did you use to interconnect the cards?

Sorry for leaving out so many details.

Ver 2.1
PC
Win98se
One MEC
3 ribbon cables 2 long (16 pin?) a one short (8 pin?)

I show Mixer B in the patchbay but it is greyed out when I drag it into the
patchbay area.

With no interface connected to the second EDS card, you will not be
able to access any of the patch bay modules for Submix B... this is
normal.

It is extremely easy to get the ribbons attached being one pin off,
remove and re-seat the ribbon connectors making sure that the pin
alignment is correct. If the ribbons have not been used in a while,
try pulling them on and off the cards a few times to burnish the
connections. The integrity of the ribbon connections is vital for the
smooth operation of Paris.

Thanks, David.

I may have misaligned them...seems easy enough to do given the size. The
red strip facing to the mounting side of the card is correct? I will do it
all again and report the results. I appreciate your help.

Honestly it doesn't matter which way the stripe faces as long as they
all face the same way. This refers to the side the stripe is on "at
the connector".

By the way... the 16 pin ribbons must be "crossed over" each other,
you didn't mention if you had done this or not.

You called this one right! I had one ribbon cable one pin off...message gone.
Thanks a lot! I never even considered that as an option. I may not have caught
it for a while.
