Hi,
I have one of these and I wonder if this can be used without a Falcon atari
(you remember these ?) aka standalone as a spmpte reader writer.
hav no manual and no clue about this...

I have one of these as well. Worked great when I last used it. Dongled on
a P-port as I recall. Still have the 1040 STFM too.... a whole meg of mem.

I wouldn't think of even trying that without knowing ALL the pinouts and
voltages. ATARI was never known for following conventions in the computer
designs. In fact, you may be surprised to know that while PC was 8 or 12
bit processing in 1990, ATARI was 32 bit. Amazing when you think about how
long it took PC to come around the 32 bit. I do know that there is a DAC in
that unit that is larger than all african variety millipedes... thing is
huge with a knarly looking composite IC body.

So it is of no use at all if you don't have atari ?
Standalone maybe for smpte to sync or vice versa ?
