Hi all. On a different topic - Reaper developer 404NotFound has just released a beta of his OMF support extension.

Users of various other DAWs are generating OMF files right now to test it out. So I was thinking if anyone wants the ability to transfer sessions from PARIS to Reaper via OMF (just as an interim measure until we figure out how to open our .ppjs directly in Reaper  ) then this would be an *excellent* time to create some OMF files from PARIS sessions, and test importing them into Reaper via the extension.
I'm half way through setting up my PARIS rig and won't be able to tackle this for a few days myself - but you know what a flaky POS OMF support can be; here's a chance to work straight with a developer virtually in realtime to make certain it's rock solid using actual PARIS-generated OMFs. We can make ours work as solidly as anyone else's.
EDITED TO ADD: don't worry about the 'edited by' tag - I removed some *really, really, really long* strings of quotes of quotes of quotes of previous material to make this thread more readable ;D

OK - I just imported a PARIS OMF file into Reaper using the 404NotFound OMF Extension for Reaper.
Lots of problems (framerate wrong, file names right but region names wrong, track names wrong, tempo incorrect) - but amazingly (particularly since I just used PAF in the song) it actually works and the regions get into Reaper in their right locations - so now the fun part begins. I've uploaded both for the developer to have a look at. But, you see...that's what it used to do, but to me, and anyone that
"needed" omf to work properly, that wasn't working.
It was a total hindrance....
The whole idea of OMF was (is), to have that info and relativity there, so
that when you are finished, you can send the mixed file to whence it came
and all would be in sync ..it never was....

Hi Martin - yes, we're aware of all that, thanks. The first step was to verify that the new Reaper extension can read an OMF file generated by an eight-year-old PARIS *at all* so we have somewhere to start.

Sorry Kerry.
But I had terrible woes with OMF and Paris when it first came out, and I was
trying to use it in a pro studio, with clients waiting on me....
With all the promises of the time, I was still unable to get it to perform
anywhere near what it should.
Very dissapointing.
I hope you get it going, but have you looked at AAF, the newer transfer
proticol?
I know Paris doesn't support it, so it may be of no interest, but for audio,
that's where it's heading.
